As we release our own hard shells of ego in the interests of realizing species harmony, so Earth seems to undergo continual release — morphing, burping, coughing, reshaping, lying low, moving intensely, it all depends!
Depends on solar storms, on the perigree Moon, on solar system geometrics, on the battlefield blood and bones we’ve stomped into her, on the nuclear bombs we’ve exploded above and inside her, on the chemical and other poisons that we’ve dumped on her — lo, these many centuries.
I used to do a breathing practice wherein I would breathe in the light of the universe, and breathe out all the gunky stuff inside me; breathe that gunk down into the Earth, figuring she could take it. She had infinite capacity to absorb my waste products.
No more. Now I practice modified tonglen. Now I realize that I need to reverse my past practices, and help Earth release all the negative energy that I, as a blind, ignorant, insensitive human, have pumped into her.
Just who is this beautiful Lady Earth that we take so for granted? Or have, until so very recently.
She is our mother and she is in us. When we learn to allow ourselves balance
she will naturally balance. Time is on her side. Her language is all around us
and we think it is ours. Listen…for nuance. It sounds deep in our earth and
radios out to the stars. We are on her wave. No matter what her
human children do her magic remains intact. It is always there emanating.
She will bring us into balance if it can happen. We have a chance to not need
to be powerful.
