I notice that Putin’s clear, articulate, prescient 2007 speech is now being widely quoted ten years later, and for good reason — especially this section:
“I consider that the unipolar model is not only unacceptable but also impossible in today’s world. “However, what is a unipolar world? However one might embellish this term, at the end of the day it refers to one type of situation, namely one center of authority, one center of force, one center of decision-making.
“It is a world in which there is one master, one sovereign. And at the end of the day this is pernicious not only for all those within this system, but also for the sovereign itself because it destroys itself from within . . .”
Trump might want to pay attention to this speech as he flails ahead, seemingly at cross-purposes within himself, to both build even more bloat into the American military while supposedly pulling back from foreign interventions — oops! except for Iran? Meanwhile, not just Trump, but how many Americans actually do pay attention to the fact that the the cancerous militarization of the entire American economy has been destroying the U.S. from within?
