Two nights ago, I woke up with this dream:

I’m in bed with a sleeping tiger!! This realization wakes me up. I get a sense that though the tiger is old, he is still very very powerful.

I get up to go to the bathroom, wondering all the while how I shall I take out the tiger if he wants to go to the bathroom, because I don’t have a collar that is big enough!

I return to bed, a single bed. Tiger is sprawled out on it now, no room for me. Don’t want to wake him up; don’t know if I can trust him not to devour me!

In waking life, I’m pondering all this in the dream as yes, I got up and stumbled into the bathroom!

And my oh my, I shall be pondering this — unusually provocative, numinous, electric! magnetic! — dream for a goodly while! But first, let me quote the first stanza of the poem that came in immediately, William Blake’s “The Tiger.” I first used that poem in the title of a piece I wrote about the first Iraq War, in 1990. Twenty-five years later, it feels, if possible, even more relevant.

The Tiger

Tiger, tiger, burning bright

In the forests of the night,

What immortal, hand or eye

Could frame thy fearful symmetry?

Then, today, I remembered my Durga tee-shirt, how, with eight arms and hands, she sits on a Tiger wielding her weapons for Truth and Justice and Compassion. Now old and tattered, it’s been my absolutely favorite tee-shirt for at least a decade — and is now packed away, awaiting another summer on this day when the first snow of the season fell. Durga Maa is depicted as riding on a lion or a tiger. A tiger symbolizes unlimited power. Durga riding a tiger indicates that She possesses unlimited power and uses it to protect virtue and destroy evil. The lion is a symbol of uncontrolled animalistic tendencies (such as anger, arrogance, selfishness, greed, jealousy, desire to harm others etc.) and Her sitting on it reminds us to control these qualities, so that we are not controlled by them.

She is usually shown wearing a red sari. The color red symbolizes action and the red clothes signify that She is destroying evil and protecting mankind from pain and suffering.

Thus, Goddess Durga symbolizes the Divine forces (positive energy) that is used against the negative forces of evil and wickedness. She represents pure energy (positive), known as divine light or jyoti that is the embodiment of feminine and creative energy.

While I wince at the dualism implied in this notion of “good vs. evil,” there’s no denying that we are faced with all sorts of ghastly goings-on all over this globe that make our inner Tiger snarl. Humanity won’t get out of this 3D world alive unless we learn to fight the good fight — with the appropriate weapons at our command — for me sharing and communication (this blog), plus various permacultural community templates — no matter what, and with no expectations.

So yes, I’m working on the idea of integrating my dream Tiger who, though old (like me!), is still powerful (really??!Yeek!). I will ask him to please move over on the bed, even though my timid request might wake him up! He is also me, after all, or my unconscious wouldn’t have alerted me to his presence, his sleeping condition, and his power. GO DURGA!

Meanwhile, here are two reports from a total of 54 whistleblowers that have swum into view in the past three days. May their numbers swell to millions as people from all walks of matrix life awaken to the murderous intentions of their (and our) overseers. May we allow the intense creative energy released by this awakening to transform timidity into the courage that makes our loving Mother Earth proud.
