It’s all over the web. The Salt Lake Tribune, the Mormon paper of record, endorses Obama by eviscerating one of its own, “Bishop” Mitt Romney, for wearing too many hats and not having core beliefs.
This is one amazing editorial. Well worth reading in full.
Tribune Endorsement: Too Many Mitts.
Obama Has Earned Another Term
The editorial cannot be reprinted in full, unfortunately, but here’s the way one commentator framed it:
by Abby Zimet
Citing an agenda “bereft of detail and worthy of mistrust,” even his natural constituency – the Mormons – have had enough of Romney’s Etch-A-Sketch BS. In a brutal editorial endorsing Obama, the Salt Lake Tribune blasted Romney’s “shape-shifting…with breathtaking aplomb” to win at any cost.
“From his embrace of the party’s radical right wing, to subsequent portrayals of himself as a moderate champion of the middle class, Romney has raised the most frequently asked question of the campaign: ‘Who is this guy, really, and what in the world does he truly believe?’
The evidence suggests no clear answer, or at least one that would survive Romney’s next speech or sound bite. Politicians routinely tailor their words to suit an audience. Romney, though, is shameless, lavishing vastly diverse audiences with words, any words, they would trade their votes to hear…
The president has earned a second term. Romney, in whatever guise, does not deserve a first.”

Makes my symbolic protest write-in vote for Dr. Ron Paul, Congr. Texas, cast here in California seem magically viable.
