Notice: perennials have larger root systems, so root in more powerfully than annuals.
Rooted plants are stable and resilient, they withstand the onset of sudden, unexpected shock.
Are you a perennial or an annual? I used to be an annual, flitting from place to place like a bird on a tree, never committing, always free to judge, with no consequences. Who would know? Who care?
Now I’m a perennial, my roots firmly set within this little permacultured homestead in a wonderful midwestern college town. I notice what I say, and think and feel. Everything cycles back to me, sooner or later. We nourish our own; and we teach them, too, through feedback.
Thanks to Keith, of permacultureactivist, for the image.
