As a former Economic Hit Man, John Perkins has a way of making what we’ve been doing, and what we must do instead, very very clear. The problem is not personal, it is systemic, and it infects us all, no matter how “pure” we think ourselves. Each of us needs to look at how we can begin to make ourselves a bit uncomfortable, then then keep going. Let go of old habits. Simplify, downsize, connect, and grow — not money and unnecessary things, but food, and love, and an attitude of willing cooperation rather than cut0throat competition.
Question: is capitalism necessarily cannibalistic? I don’t think Perkins thinks so. I wonder if he’s right.
We Must Reject Economic Cannibalism
