Update: Oops! Forgot to mention that a hemp flag will fly over the nation’s capital on 4th July this year. (Betsy Ross made her flag from hemp.)
All sorts of wonderful and even hilarious stuff being posted by my facebook friends right now concerning supposed “Independence Day.” Wow, have We the (former “sheeple”) People come a long way!
Rather than making a collage with them all, I’ll just feature one, with a bit of context.
First, remember that the Patriot Act was introduced to the House on October 25, less than six weeks after 9/11. Wow! How long is the Patriot Act? I googled this question. Here’s one answer:
Which makes this next fb screenshot even more compelling:
Couple that with this, from Ron Paul:

Aaaah, now that’s a kind of independence we weren’t even daring to imagine only a few years ago. So things DO change. Let’s keep on realizing that as we continue to make our pointed, jaundiced remarks about the patriotic stupidity of 4th of July.
Oops, one of the jaundiced remarks that I just can’t pass up, this one from the inimitable Mike Roselle, from one of the founders of Earth First!
