How one woman with dementia parsed her decision to die on her own terms.

Remember this young woman’s story?

Brittany Maynard: “Goodbye world, Spread good energy, Pay it forward.”

Here’s another riveting story, published just today in the NYT, and I notice it already has over 500 comments. This time the woman is older, like me. How many of us are pondering exactly this scenario: how and when does dementia affect ones choice to end one’s own life? The question becomes one of exquisite timing, as well as, in her case, of carefully preparing the entire family — which, in her case, took time.
