Five people arrested during ‘sleep-in’ in downtown parking garage
Besides the Herald-Times front page above-the-fold top story (printed version), do check out the online video of the first arrest. Notice the police, how they lift the covers of the “sleeping” activist — carefully, kindly. As I said in a recent post (which one? there have been so many . . . Aaah, here it is), I feel for the cops.
Irony department: yesterday I was in a bank, completing my application process for a new mortgage for my own home; got to talking with the two clerks there about homelessness. Pleasantly surprised and pleased to see how on top of this issue they are, and their outrage at what is happening here to homeless people.
I have a feeling there are going to be lots of folks at Rachel’s Cafe tomorrow evening at 7:30 p.m. for the presentation on squatting . . .
