Five Week Trip, Day One Photos: San Francisco garden.

Jamie’s garden is in the Richmond district.

Just spent a half hour with her bees and native plants and others. Bees at northwest corner.

Did you know that there are 1600 native bee species in California? And 20,000 species world-wide? The bees she has here, however, are honey bees. She pointed out one tiny bee that she says is one of the natives.

Closer . . .

Praying Mantis has been in the garden for about two weeks, Jamie says. We just noticed that his left front leg is missing. She says he likes rudbeckia (the yellow flower), and  appears when she goes down there, his eye swiveling to follow her.
