Does Petraeus REALLY mean Betray Us? Quite possibly.

I can’t remember where I saw it, but a short, veiled remark in one of the early pieces on the Petraeus affair caught my attention, made me think that Petraeus was somehow competitive with Obama, that the timing of the MSM story (directly post-re-election) was key to some kind of astonishing imbroglio underneath the typical sexy tabloid version we were fed. This morning, a couple of paragraphs thrown into the middle of a piece by Gordon Duff fed this suspicion, and then this afternoon, I came across the piece that Duff had apparently referenced —

Press TV: Coup and counter-coup in Washington . . .

I came across this piece first on the jhaines6.wordpress.com site, one which I find myself increasingly turning to in order to keep abreast of breaking political and financial news. That I would come see it right after absorbing the fascinating first hour of

Oliver Stone’s Untold History of the United States

seems synchronous, somehow. This is a video that I will watch again and again, so much is packed into it. All about complex global currents of nationalistic, political and military force, counterforce, prevailing and undercurrent forces — during World War II. Really remarkable. Aren’t we about done with this war business?

So glad that we weep now when we see women and children’s faces, eyes streaming with tears, on our ubiquitous screens. So glad that we now actually notice when a few people die in our stupid wars, not just when millions do. For example, did you know that China alone lost 10 to 20 million people in World War II? This is just one of an astonishing panoply of facts paraded by Stone in the opening salvo of a series guaranteed to open our eyes to our own history in a startling new way.

Hold the light, folks, we’re in for a wild ride.
