“It’s a thing Jefferson lay great stress on. We’ve arranged a society based on science and technology, in which nobody knows anything about science and technology. The people have to be educated, and they have to practice their skepticism and their education, or else we don’t run the government; the government runs us.”
Carl Sagan, on “this combustible mixture of ignorance and power:” “who is running science and technology in a democracy when the people don’t know anything about it?”

Me thinks the problem lies with the fact that though we have much knowledge (thus the technology).. we lack wisdom (thus we would have left a whole lot of that technology on the drawing board)
