Bergdahl’s Inferno

If ever there was a story designed to flush to the surface the worst that is in the putrid bowels of the American psyche, it is this one. Let us hope that Bowe Bergdahl and his family, and the small town of Hailey, Idaho, have the fortitude to endure the still ramping up media and political firestorm.

P.S. Having just posted the great Abby Martin/Amber Lyon story on psychedelics, I wonder: psychedelic trips often begin with a violent purge of vomit. Could the Bergdahl saga be the “psychedelic” that purges the collective American psyche of hypocrisy, lies and violence, so that we may then begin the healing process?

Here are two perspectives that I very much appreciate:

  1. A somewhat different analysis applied to Bergdahl draws the perspective his “retreval” or “extraction” was a successful conclusion to a CIA spy operation.

Who better could serve as a spy?

The parents profess Islamic spiritual codes, speak passages in Arab dialects, offers their US Army enlisted son the advice to “follow his own conscious” on important moral choices in life, while the child is raised into manhood in the US. He volunteers to “serve his country” On joining, he takes the following witnessed oath:

“I, (NAME), do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God.”

Sometime soon upon arrival to bootcamp, the Army will learn and record many of the unusual talents, languages, skills, and abilities of every recruit. What they see in Bergdahl and discover soon enough is a potential set of personal credentials that set him apart as a useful intelligence asset.

His “defection” on the battlefield is witnessed by his squad. What better cover story? He does his thing and is “retrieved” many months later. His reputation is defiled by right-wing plants inside Tea Party putting out a continued cover that he’s not a hero but a deserter. The case is made and never verified beyond rumor and heresy, “we saw him defect” and “many died trying to find and capture him over weeks of hunt and search missions.”

Things are never what they seem in war.

  2. What Rich has laid out is exactly the Machiavellian tactics that ‘controllers’ have used for
centuries. (Clear identification and exposure of the controllers would seem the most effective way to stop the madness.)
