A.K. Reader: ENTROPY AND THE CRONE (1991)

This is likely my final post for the next five days, as I will be flying out early tomorrow to Tucson for the 27th annual Crones Counsel (September 4-8), a yearly gathering of crones that began as an outgrowth of Crone Chronicles (1989-2001), and that I attend every few years.

Over the past few days I have been reviewing an old discussion that I had entirely forgotten about. Jane, Jeff and I, three people who were willing to move into a free-for-all discussion on a very important topic, did so with utter abandon, and, though I had wanted to publish the discussion in an issue of Crone Chronicles: A Journal of Conscious Aging, it turns out I did not. Why? Don’t remember.  Too long? Too far out there? Probably both.

Re-reading it now, I notice several fascinating aspects. Besides the fact that the discussion is so meaty that there is literally no place in the discussion that stands out as being of more value than any other part — so I don’t want to excerpt it by way of introduction — it’s also obvious to me now, 28 years later, that my menopausal self, so much in evidence during this cronversation, is now so far beyond gone that I can hardly remember that time!

But that’s the superficial part. What I really notice now is how all three of us were simply assuming The Big Bang, a fundamental assumption about the universe that I no longer take for granted, and wonder what my husband Jeff would say now about this assumption were he alive (he died in early 2003).  See this:

REGENERATIVE UNIVERSE,  with Rob Messick

For more on Jeff, and our relationship, see this:

THIS VAST BEING: A Voyage through Grief and Exaltation

This entire discussion of entropy is even more relevant today than it was back then. Climate change, paradigm shifts, the need for “the croning of society,” male-female interplay, all enter our free-ranging discussion which even now, blows my mind!

Thank you Jeff and Jane! (As you will see, I was more the referee, or moderator between them, in the discussion).
