I say this on a gloriously green and rainy, bird-song besotted, early June morning when I’m preoccupied with the current decision faced by one of my dear sisters, who has worked with cancer off and on for nearly 40 years, and is right now caught up in a hospital bed in Reno, Nevada, far away from her home in Seattle.

Will she and her husband manage to drive back? Will she fly? Which form of transport would be harder on her body/mind/soul/spirit?
