Fritjof Capra: “We need to shift from quantitative to qualitative growth.”

I just suggested to our public library that they order Fritjof Capra’s 2014 book, The Systems View of Life. Here’s a short intro.

Here’s an entire talk on the subject, via his new book, with its “systems” vision of life “which integrates biological, cognitive, social and ecological dimensions. Also discusses philosophical and social implications.” The key: “Nature has an inherent ability to sustain life, and we need not to interfere with that . . . . Nature as a whole is a living cognitive system, a cooperative dance in which creativity and constant emergence are the driving forces.” Systems thinking features “relations, patterns, context.” I.e., I’d say: permaculture! The possibility of permanent culture.
