Walk Your Talk department: From geologist who extracted FROM Nature to apprentice permaculturist planning to work WITH Nature.

This man and his wife sold their mortgaged suburban home and are now living in “shared housing” with the aim of getting onto their own land as soon as can afford it. But why, I ask, isn’t “shared housing” part of the permacultural ideal? It is for me.

Permaculture aims to learn from and mimic nature. Do plants live alone (even if “in community,” as we humans say), but each on his or her own independent property? Not usually. Otherwise, a very inspirational post, detailing one man’s journey out of the industrial matrix as a geologist who oversaw mineral extraction in Australia back to his grandparents’ farm in the land of his birth in Europe.
