Three current OWS actions on both coasts

OWS events are moving so thick and fast that I’m going to give three more here on the run from today and yesterday: Keith Olbermann’s interview with one of the vets who marched yesterday with OWS in New York, the reported arrests of Chris Hedges and others at the Goldman Sachs march in New York today, and, from San Francisco, a human poster protest on the beach.

Iraq War veteran Joshua Shepherd, a friend of the veteran injured by police at an “Occupy Oakland” protest, appeared Wednesday night on Countdown with Keith Olbermann.

Olsen, a two-time Iraq war veteran and member of Iraq Veterans Against the War, sustained a skull fracture in late October after being struck in the head by a teargas canister and has been rendered unable to speak.

Shepherd told Olbermann the incident created a sense of “collective rage” among veterans.

About 100 veterans marched from New York City’s Vietnam Veterans Plaza to the “Occupy Wall Street” protest in Zuccotti Park on Wednesday to show support for Olsen.

Activists Hold “People’s Hearing” of Goldman Sachs, Chris Hedges and 12 Others Reportedly Arrested

Update: The hearing has ended, but according to reports on Twitter 13 people were arrested in front of Goldman Sachs headquarters this afternoon. Reportedly, among those arrested were Reverend Billy and Chris Hedges.

Right now, a “People’s Hearing” of Goldman Sachs is taking place at Liberty Square Park. According to OccupyWallSt.org:

The people will bring to justice perhaps the single most egregious perpetrator of economic fraud and corruption in the United States. The Hearing will include testimonials from individuals directly affected by Goldman’s fraudulent manipulation of financial markets, including victims of housing foreclosures, pension losses, public lay-offs and untenable student debt. The proceedings will also include expert analysis from Ralph Nader, Cornel West and Chris Hedges. Following the 99-minute hearing the people will decide on a fair and deliverable verdict via our own process of consensus-based direct democracy – and we intend to deliver it ourselves – to the headquarters of Goldman Sachs at 200 West Street, eight blocks from Liberty Square.

Finally, thanks to a website that I can no longer remember or relocate, sorry!, this . . .

On Saturday, October 29th, over 1000 Americans laid their bodies down on a San Francisco beach to spell out “TAX THE 1%.” This protest was just the latest, and possibly most spectacular yet, in the wave of protests that have swept the nation since protesters occupied Wall Street, launching the “We are the 99%” movement.

The event was a collaboration between local organizer Brad Newsham and The Other 98%, a net-roots powerhouse with over 120,000 facebook followers. For more information, please visit other98.com

The crowd was estimated at over 1000, including two San Francisco City Supervisors, John Avalos and Eric Mar.
