This action, by the Parents for Occupy Walls Street, and the unfortunately predictable NYPD reaction to it, brought tears to my eyes. I wonder: do either of the two policemen who trashed the children’s paper hearts have children of their own? If so, what were they thinking? Surely, the children’s troubled little faces on the other side of that wrought-iron fence as they watched their sweet creations destroyed must have wrenched the officer’s own hearts.
