Jon Stewart: "The Gingrich who stole South Carolina"

Couldn’t resist Stewart stomping this apotheosis of hypocrisy. Thanks to alternet.org.

Jon Stewart was dumbfounded last night by the fact that Newt Gingrich had used his ex-wife’s accusations that he wanted an “open marriage” in his own favor with South Carolina voters. This was “the moment when values voters’ supposed disgust over the moral turpitude of those in American public life is knocked out cold by their anger at the Right’s supposed victimization by the media,” said Stewart.

But keep watching, as he was just getting warmed up in his attacks on both Gingrich and debate moderator John King, who should have called Gingrich out on being “a career marriage-sanctity sullier.”

As for Gingrich’s claims of being a Washington outsider, said Stewart, “when Washington gets its prostate checked, it tickles you.”
