During the years I was publishing Crone Chronicles: A Journal of Conscious Aging (1989-2001), the editor and I dreamed of having Jane Fonda on board with us. Wanted to meet her. After all, we were in Jackson, Wyoming, and she lived just up the road in southern Montana. But then, she was married to Ted. What was that about? We wondered. In any case, we knew she was a crone at heart, deep down in that radical heart of hers, no matter how much she tried to squeeze her free, expansive Sagittarian self into the tiny rigid role of “supporting wife” to famous man. So it doesn’t surprise me at all that at 77 years of age, Jane is standing up and being counted in the best of all possible ways, for her grandchildren. And she gives perhaps the most quotable quote of recent times: “Arrest me. I don’t care.”
