First, yank back your mind. Then, self-educate!

Once we realize that we are in charge of our own minds, then we can go about truly educating ourselves by following our specific passions. What turns you, as a unique individual, on? What ignites your lifeblood, makes it boil with desire and pleasure? What makes you lose track of time, it’s so damn fascinating? That’s your path. YOUR path. The one you were designed to follow. The one your soul chose, pre-birth, because it utilizes the talents and gifts you came in with from other lives to learn the lessons you asked to learn here and now. Individualized learning, for individuals! No more getting bored in classes that are either too far ahead, too far out in left field, or too far behind, or just way too boring and irrelevant to YOUR needs to catch and hold your precious attention.

Oh hey! and: No more prescriptions for so-called “attention deficit disorder.”

“Oh yeah?” you say. “Who says I’ve got ADD?”

“A little book says.”

“Well, who made up that damn book?”

“Psychiatrists.”

“But who are they? Do they know what they’re doing? Who the hell do they think they are telling people, telling ME, what’s “normal” and what’s not?”

That’s how you think and act, that’s the attitude you can’t help but adopt, at least at first, when you stop letting others rule you.

Back to education. There are lots of ways to educate yourself, online, for free. No expensive tuition, no crippling student loans that, with punishing interest, multiply over time. No more worrying about whether or not we have the “right” degree, from the “right” school for the “most prestigious” career. The race “to achieve high status” is just more mind control designed to make you feel inferior, no matter what, because there’s always somebody above you, no matter how far you climb up that ladder of illusion.

Oh yeah, and no more need to get lots of money to get and hold lots of stuff in order to “improve your self-image,” i.e., feel richer, more valuable, than the next guy.

“What?” you say. “Assigning value to money and things rather than to individuals?”

“Yep, that’s the deal.”

“What deal? “I hereby declare that deal dead.”

Just begin! Oh, as part of your education, you might want to have lots of discussions with at least the one other person that you know who has also managed to break through the Matrix and start to think for him or herself.

And BTW: if you wake up during high school, you can drop out and get a GED. Of course you might miss your friends. But maybe that one friend who is also awake will join you.

Meanwhile, if you don’t yet know someone else who also has opened his or her own mind, then here’s what you can do: Ask your unconscious mind to help you. Your unconscious knows much more than you do. (It always does, no matter how much we shine a light, its dark riches are endless. There’s simply no end to what we can uncover when we open to the unconscious.) Tap into it. Through dreams, visions, synchronicities. Lots of ways that vastly larger part of your self can nudge you in the direction that is yours. Ask it to help you find that new friend. And that means becoming even more awake! Awake enough to sensitize yourself to when your unconscious mind is trying to give you a sign!

Once we stop trying to fit ourselves into silly, pre-set grooves, once we do consciously invite the unconscious as our internal partner, then life transforms into an amazing adventure, a magical mystery tour. I know. I live it.

BTW: The path of “apprenticeship education” is also beginning to re-emerge. You might google that phrase. See what’s out there, for YOU.

selffffAll education is self-education. Period. It doesn’t matter if you’re sitting in a college classroom or a coffee shop. We don’t learn anything we don’t want to learn.

Those people who take the time and initiative to pursue knowledge on their own are the only ones who earn a real education in this world.

Take a look at any widely acclaimed scholar, entrepreneur or historical figure you can think of. Formal education or not, you’ll find that he or she is a product of continuous self-education.

If you’re interested in learning something new, this article is for you. Broken down by subject and/or category, here are several top-notch self-education resources I have bookmarked online over the past few years.

Note that some of the sources overlap between various subjects of education. Therefore, each has been placed under a specific subject based on the majority focus of the source’s content.
