David Holmgren to NACP Delegates: The worse things get, the more permaculture grows.

Here’s permaculture co-founder David Holmgren’s talk at the convergence in Minnesota, which was presented, as I recall, at 10 p.m., way beyond the time I crawled in my tent. Glad to see it now, via video, from his home in Australia. Pay close attention to his view of history, what he identifies as the “three waves” of permaculture, the first emerging in the late 1970s, with each one a response to awareness of intensely difficult environmental and/or economic concerns. We’re in the third stage now.

P.S. Where he refers to “the professor” and “the undergraduate student,” he’s talking about co-founder (and then professor) Bill Mollison, and himself.

Via Keith.
