French Muslim Philosopher’s Letter to Muslims: “If I didn’t believe in you, I would not have been so harsh in this essay.”

imagesThis letter, and the new cover of Charlie Hebdo, speak with one voice as to the monsters that spring from us when we give over our very souls to fundamentalism in any religion. Our only recourse, when faced with such corruption of our original beauty, is to forgive — and to ask forgiveness. For who among us has NOT spawned the monster in our attempts to control or be controlled?

  1. Bill Chisholm says:

I have been waiting for such insight from someone in the Muslim community, albeit a bit distant, but nonetheless one who has a deeper understanding. It seems to me that this is the time across the religious and political spectrum to take a deep at what these various teachings and dogmas mean in “real terms”, how do they help us create a better world? The hour is late and the time to rethink who we are and how we are is getting short.
