As we surge through “Ascension,” a poem: Blessing the Boats

Max sends this poem, and comments . . .

I love the opening …. as we move, are carried, into the peak of the December, solstice time, 2012 incoming “tide”…

In the wake of the tidal surge that multiplied Sandy’s destruction….

“may you kiss the wind and then turn from it certain that it will love your back (echoes of the celtic prayer–may the road rise to meet you)

Blessing the Boats

may the tide

that is entering even now

the lip of our understanding

carry you out

beyond the face of fear

may you kiss

the wind then turn from it

certain that it will

love your back may you

open your eyes to water

water waving forever

and may you in your innocence

sail through this to that

— Lucille Clifton, from Quilting, 1991
