One vision of the coming transformation of human life on Earth — and beyond

I notice myself germinating what seems to be a contradiction. While this contradiction makes me uncomfortable, I don’t view it as something I want to eliminate. With Walt Whitman, I declare: “I contradict myself? So I contradict myself. I am large. I contain multitudes.”

YES! Contradictions are growing points, forcing me to evolve beyond what I already know/feel/see/be. Contradictions are paradoxes, to be held in the mind and heart as equally true. As the great physicist Niel Bohr put it, “The opposite of one great truth is another great truth.”

So, to be specific: Back and forth, back and forth — I feel myself switching continuously between two visions of the future:

Vision One: powering down to simpler ways of life that, as far as possible, do not require “outside inputs,” a vision shared by permaculture and the Transition Movement.

Vision Two: the discovery/recovery/release of essentially unlimited sources of free or nearly free energy that would ramp up all sorts of technological and infrastructural innovations.

In both these visions of the future, I see decentralization, localization, bioregionalism as future organic ways of organizing human settlements on Earth.

So perhaps the visions are not so incompatible after all. Perhaps a more difficult dichotomy to embrace is that between centralization and decentralization, controlled hierarchy and open-source networking, artificial and natural.

And yet, and yet. In astrology, we speak of the vertical and the horizontal axes in the circle that represents the natal chart. Both are necessary. The vertical axis, from the Midheaven to the Immum Coeli, describes one’s spiritual path: as one roots oneself into Earth, so one’s spirit can soar to the heavens. The horizontal axis, linking the Ascendant to the Descendant, is all-too-human: embracing our persona that connects with others as mirrors.

Once again, both/and, not either/or.

BTW: I tend to assume there are natural hierarchies, in the sense of developmental stages in the spiritual world. Ascending levels of awareness, dimensions, frequency ranges. But let’s not go there now. Meanwhile, here’s a wonderful article that describes possibilities within what I call Vision Two, above. Notice that the author also ties new energy sources to ET, without saying that perhaps ET helped us get these free energy technologies in the first place!

Cold Fusion – The First Domino

Those individuals who have attempted to suppress cold fusion have done so for many different reasons. One reason is that the successful commercialization of the technology could be the first domino in a paradigm shift that could change the course of human civilization.

Cold fusion is not just another every day discovery. It holds the potential to totally revolutionize our civilization. The “powers that be” and the other individuals who have attempted to suppress cold fusion recognize this fact. It is one of the reasons they have worked to suppress the technology. A breakthrough that could provide cheap and almost limitless power is too much of a threat to their control of humanity. However, the benefits cold fusion could offer humanity is not the greatest fear of some of these individuals. What threatens them even more is what could be inspired by the reality of cold fusion’s existence becoming well known. The possibility of the technology becoming the first domino that sets off a chain reaction of scientific discovery is their greatest fear.

If cold fusion is successfully commercialized, our world could change in fundamental ways. One of the first benefits would be that the energy crisis could come to an end over a period of years rather than decades. Nickel hydrogen cold fusion could power the world utilizing only a tiny fraction of today’s production of nickel. Literally speaking, grams of nickel can replace barrels of oil. Also, the amount of hydrogen needed would be miniscule.

In a world powered by cold fusion technology, a watt of energy could cost one tenth or less, than what it does today. Another obvious benefit is that the amount of pollution and CO2 emitted into the atmosphere would be reduced, which could mean draconian plans for “carbon taxes” could be scrapped. The jobs cold fusion technology could create (because there would be a demand for millions upon millions of cold fusion devices to be manufactured) would stimulate the economy.

Once the energy crisis has come to an end, humanity could begin using this new source of almost unlimited energy to accomplish many wonders that are energy intensive. Humanity could turn deserts into farmland by building huge desalinization plants, we could build automated recycling plants powered by cold fusion reactors, and we could even use the vast overabundance of energy to build indoor gardens that could provide enough food for every person on the planet. With transportation costs drastically lowered, the food, desalinized water, and recycled materials could be shipped anywhere on the planet.

While this transformation of our civilization is taking place — from a planet of poverty to a planet of wealth — scientists and engineers around the world could be inspired to come up with additional inventions that previously would have been considered impossible or impractical. Perhaps companies that would never consider building an overunity magnet motor would start performing research on the topic, and self sustaining electric motors could be created. Of course with an unlimited source of energy we could power colonies anywhere in the solar system. It is possible that the existence of cold fusion might inspire a scientist somewhere to come up with an anti-gravity drive that could allow for fast space travel.

Of course, if cold fusion, anti-gravity, and overunity motors are accepted as reality, the accepted “laws of physics” will have to be revisited. Many of the old, closed-minded set of laws physicists deal with today will have to be discarded. Many establishment scientists do not want this to happen, because they are happy with the status quo. They have been teaching and performing mundane research on “conventional” technologies all their life using today’s incomplete laws of physics. For a whole new set of laws to be written (because suddenly everything that had been previously impossible is being sold at Wal-Mart) would mean they had wasted countless years of their life. If they had only been more open-minded, less cynical, and a little more willing to accept new possibilities, they might have been part of the solution that rescued humanity from a dark future.

Where will these new laws of physics lead us? I think they will lead us to the stars. In my opinion, this is inevitable, if we are able to roll out cold fusion technology and use it appropriately. The evidence is overwhelming that the universe is filled with life. The Kepler Space Telescope has discovered that almost every star in our galaxy has at least one planet, and this may be a low figure due to the difficulty in detecting Earth mass planets. In a galaxy with over 100 billion stars, and even more planets, there are probably countless hospitable places for humanity to colonize. Where there is not a suitable biosphere to colonize we could build our own space habitat out of materials obtained from asteroids. With the many technologies that will be developed due to the introduction of cold fusion technology, it may be possible that planets will become like nature preserves — places to visit but not to live in. Perhaps that is what the ETs are doing right now by visiting our planet.

Perhaps, due to our war-like ways, we are currently being featured on an extraterrestrial television program describing the most savage nature reserves in the galaxy. Wouldn’t it be great if we could go from being considered violent animals by extraterrestrial species — that have probably been around for millions of years — to a species worthy of direct communication with them? Of course that would not be in the best interest of the powers that be on this planet, because it would be too easy for the ordinary person to escape from their clutches. Perhaps the perpetrators of victimless crimes — such as those people guilty of the use or cultivation of marijuana — could too easily flee to another world where consumption of plant matter is not a crime. Or perhaps those who are fed up with a big government that wants to control every aspect of our lives could find a more reasonable civilization to live in.

Basically, the emergence of cold fusion technology is the first domino in a series of technological and scientific discoveries that hold the potential to alter the course of human civilization. Whatever humanity can dream of will become a reality due to the existence of cold fusion proving that NOTHING is impossible. Every technological wonder we watch on Star Trek, Babylon 5, Battlestar Galactica, or other science fiction programs will actually become plausible. It is a future in which the powers that be lose their power over humanity, and the ordinary person gains the ability to do whatever they want with their own life.

If they want to start a community on Earth where they can practice their own values without interference from outside groups or the government, so be it.

If they want to start a colony elsewhere in the solar system or beyond, so be it.

If they want to roam the galaxy in a spaceship, so be it.

If they want to gain citizenship in an extraterrestrial civilization, so be it.

In conclusion, from my vantage point, it seems that a future of unlimited possibilities, wealth for everyone, interstellar trade and commerce, and FREEDOM is part of the reason why the powers that be are attempted to suppress cold fusion. We must fight for this future by peacefully resisting those who are still continuing to try and suppress this technology, and support the individuals and companies that are pushing to put cold fusion technologies on the market. By doing so, we can kick the first domino down.

  1. Update on nuclear reactor use in Japan. Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda authorized restarting two of the 50 Japan based reactors over much public uproar and opposition. Japan is most unique among government officials world wide. Their personal sense of “owning a decision” of this magnitude isn’t like the pusillanimous and cynical western concept of “taking responsibility” for a decision. “Owning the decision” at this level “assuming sole responsibility” in Japanese culture means something more in the order of magnitude of “a humble bowing public apology, with public resignation from office, slumped shoulders, shame and disgrace, never to be heard from again,” and that would be at a minimum level of “owning a decision” of this level of importance to the country. Choose wisely, as another accident is always a matter of when not if.

Popular opinion runs very deep and is heavily against starting up any of the offline reactors no matter what the cost. All Japanese based nuclear power plants have been offline for safety inspections since the Fukushima incident.

I personally do not see much difference, technically between offline and online other than accommodation. It seems to me that the foolish decision as first discussed two decades ago by Leuren Moret was to place nuclear reactors on the historically unstable intersection of four Pacific Rim Tectonic Plates on top of soils subject to high liquification. Now that the fuel rods are already there and world wide politics require the fuel rods to remain right where they are until suitable long term storage is created, these power plants would seem safer or as safe running and fully staffed than idle and under staffed. But not so fast.

Let’s use this moment for some truth telling. The old path is reckless to an extreme as we are slowly realizing. One aspect that has to be addressed is the long term “downwinder health issues” which statistically have been buried and kept off the front pages. GE and Westinghouse both supply equipment to nuclear reactors and both own the mainstream media that bury the important need-to-know public health data. This marraige and conflict of interest between cause and effect is way out of balance only when viewed with an open mind and fearless attitude. The statistical correlation of occurrence of some 21 +- serious health issues linked positively in the downwind zones need to be mainstreamed into our media right here in the USA. It took me a generation of observations to reach this troubling perspective; I hope I see improvent before my ticket expires.

Some years ago I leased a building to a hush-hush group doing alternative power research. They completed there work and moved on. My key discovery is this: a new energy paradigm is slowly emerging. The thinking is, it takes a full human generation to wean us off one system and on to the new with acceptable economic disturbances. Three past examples are “Digital vs. Film” and “Fiber Optic vs. Hard Wire” and “Transistor vs. Vacuum Tube.” Slow displacement was generally a positive process in that it causes the least economic disruption and creates new industries with many spin-off benefits… does it not?

The second point is the corporate fear of obsolescence cause by new technology. Corporate fear can be over come but requires slow quarter-by-quarter board of director education on how replacement revenues from new technologies will be assured for controlling oligopolies. Think research non-conffict-of-interest technology spin-offs from LLNL seeding dozens of consumer demanded free market products. But is the current structural management of LLNL so tied to the nuclear power industry that it’s scientific tail wages the corporate dog of public research and development?

Where is our new technology coming from? Is nuclear power the “new” or is it a phase of “the old” ?

    So what is new?
The third point is: unbelievable as it seems, “zero point energy” is real. You won’t find that topic discussed in public at LLNL however. Maybe because most of LLNL doesn’t have a militarized need-to-know. Maybe because LLNL’s highest level of management remains if not under control of a status-quo war machine, it remains too accommodating to a status-guo of the nuclear power industry. It’s current structure begs too many questions.

The fear of change is real and comes down upon each one of us in some fashion. Corporate Leadership roles require leaders to somehow achieve a transformation while confronting our fear and concern for replacement revenues, rising above partisanship, and demonstrating feasibility towards a long term, eased change, one quarter at a time. Think grand parents in care homes living off PG&E dividends. Who wants to disrupt that? Some zero point energy sources put in question the continuance of existing revenue souces to our utility companies. We are all sensitive to grand parents’ perceived needs, are we not?

    Public Release of Prototype.

It’s time for a public announcement bringing into the public arena a demonstration prototype of Zero Point Energy on a highly credible public platform with reach: think LLNL spin-off in joint venture with Disney showing creative power source potentials and uses now only known to be real to a few million souls on earth out of a few billion of us. Remember the old telephone-tv booths at Disneyland, a joint venture with the old Lilly Tomlin, AT&T: “One ringy-dingy. Two ringy-dingy.”? How about a serious Disneyland observation room with a floating 100-ton ball that can be moved with a control stick, visible through safe observation windows? Or a three dimensional pool room with a controllable holographic Goofy using a Q-stick and shooting real oversize bowling balls in three dimensional space? This would signal on many levels change we could believe in, even if at first we couldn’t accept as real what’s right in front of our face.

A timely demonstration to the general public requires something on par with the Japanse Prime Minister’s courage, would it not? Where might such leadership courage come forward to face the barrage of debunkers, paid and unpaid, and ridiculers?
