Local Action: Gathering with other growers

Today I attend and help out at our Local Growers Guild Winter Gathering, 9-5, at the Harmony School.

The Local Growers Guild is a cooperative of farms, retailers and community members dedicated to strengthening the local food economy in southern Indiana through education, direct support and market connections. Your involvement will help us grow and sustain a strong and vibrant local food economy.

We educate, support and connect local growers, consumers, businesses and communities in a variety of ways, including:

BLOOMINGTON WINTER FARMERS MARKET – an
indoor market held on Saturdays from January through March.
DINE LOCAL WEEK – special events highlighting local restaurants that cook with locally grown ingredients.
LOCAL GROWERS GUIDE – a publication filled with information about how, why, and where to find local food.
HOMEGROWN INDIANA FARM TOURS- a collaboration with the City of Bloomington, Bloomingfoods and Slow Food Bloomington to help consumers connect with growers and learn more about how their food is grown.
WINTER GUILD GATHERING- an annual growers’ conference.
HARVEST DINNER- a five-course dinner of locally grown, seasonal ingredients, including presentations from
farmers that takes place each fall.
